WHAT IF YOU WERE A SEARCH ENGINE ?
A poem about the future

speculation about what could have been

dreaming about creating a better future

WHAT IF WERE THE CREATER OF THE FUTURE?
IDEAS ON TOPICS
Big Pharma & Media

We’ve become more critical of our looks due to constant self evaluation → Zoom meetings, Instagram filters and alone time

This leads to the rise in plastic surgery trends in the last year
For example: 50+ year old men are getting increasing amounts of plastic surgery.

Big Tech

Fashion stores are using artificial intelligence to personalize exact fashion collections for the consumer.
→ future development through data
→ stores even collect the location of you mobile phone through 4G to see at what shelves you stopped the most

- Does Big data actually say something about our tastes?
- Personalization of customer order
Big Media

Increasing awareness of social media security is helping protect children from digital harm.
→ in Italy a girl died because she was following the “Choking trend” from TikTok. Now under 13 year olds are banned from the platform in italy.
what if i were a narcissist?

The field I chose is big media. With this project I want to discuss and critique the way media has approached #BLM protests. With regards to the media coverage of men and women.
The pov: a black woman watching the media speak about #BLM
Did we forget about the squares?
The things that really matter seem to be forgotten
In a hurry to share solidarity to the people who are hurt.

Every day.

Did we forget about the squares?
Months later and everything that really matters seems to be forgotten
another hashtag, another anthem, another company caping for us.

And the cycle continues.

Did we forget about the squares?
Mothers are crying, little girls are stomping and where are you?
When the blood leaves our bodies
What do you do?

Your screen lights up your face, while you consume our pain
And thanks for the squares.

In case you forgot.
I still live in pain

Every day.

MOODBOARD
--> who is in charge of the change?
--> imagine if i am in charge
black women are shown in protest at the forefront. we feel the burden and responsibility to speak up for our brothers, our family. black women are the cultural leaders. '

do we want to be cultural leaders? we are portrayed as gatekeepers, as the security guards of our communities.
do our men support us the same way we support them? we don't give permission to be portrayed like this. we don't want to be like this. but if nobody protects us who will?
Once, there was a woman with a round belly. Carrying around a young boy.

Her body changed. In the dark he felt her curves. In the dark he loved girls. In the dark he whispered I love you.

In the morning he left to go to work. He said.

She sat at home with a round belly. Carrying around a young boy.

All she did was wait, think, dream.
All she did was wait. For him to love her.

All she did was think. About what and where he is.

All she did was dream. Of the things she could have done to be happy.

Almost there.
Young boy, your mother will protect you.
"Don't leave me when you grow up." She said

She always waited for him to come home, from work.

Her body changed. In the dark her hair became grey. In the dark she thought of the times when she used to play.
When she looked in the mirror and used to say.

I love you.

Last year we all witnessed the #BLM protest that was held all over the world. Police brutality, micro-aggression in the workspace, and stereotyping stems from racism and are unfortunately still apparent in this age we live in.

Of course, it is our right to protest and stand up against the injustice that happens amongst our people, but does it have to end in violence? This is not what I want to wake up and see in the media.
I see women and children risking their lives to fight for the lives of the men who have died.
This project showcases how I would like women to be portrayed in the #BLM protests. I make it personal by sharing my poems about the issue. Creating a platform, literally, to express what we feel in a safer manner.
